MySpace.com is a powerful web site which helps people connect with others who have similar interests in topics such as music, film, geographic location, and relationships.

This type of site is known as a social networking web site. There are other similar sites that have been popular in the past such as Friendster and Classmates.com, but MySpace.com has definitely become the leader in social networking sites.

MySpace boasts a member list of over 100,000,000 people as of August 6, 2006. According to the owner of MySpace.com, located in NewsCorp of Hollywood California, it is growing at a rate of 500,000 new members every week.

Everyone from small town bands and rap artists to large film makers are using MySpace.com to connect with its large database of members and to provide more information about Pop culture.

MySpace has received some criticisms regarding the age of its users. Teenagers as young as 14 can register for a Myspace account. Although their profiles are automatically private, this has been the source of some controversy about allowing users this young to interact with others on the web.

Myspace does have other restrictions for users under the age of 18, but there are still possibilities that make many concerned parents and organizations uncomfortable.

How Does it Work

Myspace allows you to create an account using some basic information such as name and email address. You are not required to give up any personal information.

Once you have an account you can network with the millions of other members who have Myspace accounts. You can also search for people who have similar interests and then interact with them using special Myspace features such as blogs, chat and the add a friend to your page feature.

How to Signup

To singup for a MySpace.com account, just go to the signup link on their home page or visit Myspace.com for the link.

Once you signup, you can log into your account and build a web page using a simple menu and a step by step process. You can easily change the look and feel to reflect your profile using graphics from sites that offer free MySpace.com layouts.

You can also add photos, music, and videos to your profile that will attract others who are interested in the same things, which makes it ideal for up and coming bands and artists.

Finding Groups, Friends, and Relationships

You can also search the network using browse, keyword searches or by groups. Once you start to find people you want to meet, you can invite them to your network. In some cases, their friends see you and may also invite you to their network. Your network of friends can grow literally by being invited to one persons network.

Why is it so Popular

As more and more people go online, more people are seeking to meet others with the same interests. Web site networks that facilitate this type of communication have historically done very well on the Internet.

It is very easy to open a Myspace.com account and find tons of people and groups who have all of the latest news on various topics, especially music and film, which are staples of pop culture.

It is also free to join MySpace.com, which makes it even more attractive to the general public and gives it the power to easily compete with fee based interest and relationship sites that have been around for years.

As the online community gets larger, more people are looking for easy ways to connect with others without having to pay a lot of money or without having to spend hours of time searching different web sites. As a result, MySpace has become the popular place of choice to instantly connect with other individuals and groups of people.

- Rod Davis

MySpace is an online community focused on helping individuals to make new friends or reconnect with old friends. With this type of goal in mind it is not surprising that the vast majority of MySpace members use the community to make connections with other members. This may include staying in touch with old friends and family members, reconnecting with lost friends, making business connections or even meeting romantic partners. This article will discuss how all of these opportunities are available on the MySpace community.

Keeping in Touch with Friends and Family

MySpace can be an excellent way for friends and family members to stay in touch. Encouraging friends and family members to join MySpace with you can help you to stay in better contact with these individuals. Communicating through MySpace is a lot of fun and gives users the ability to post pictures, audio files and video files in addition to personal information presented in a blog. Members can leave comments for each other or just stay in touch by reading each others websites and posting personal information on their own websites for others to read.

Reconnecting with Lost Friends

Overtime we all lose contact with some of our old friends. Whether this is a trusted friend who was with you through the trying times in high school, a companion who helped you make it through college or even an acquaintance you met in passing at a bus stop MySpace can help you to reconnect to these old friends.

One passive way to reconnect with lost friends is to simply create your own MySpace website and wait for these lost friends to contact you. This may not always happen but it is possible. MySpace is an extensive community with members all around the world and it is very possible your old friend may see you on MySpace and contact you. Also, if you create a blog entry expressing an interest in reconnecting with an individual, your blog may be seen by someone who knows your lost friend and passes along the message.

Another way to find lost friends on MySpace is to use the search feature. The simplest way to search for someone is by using their full name. However, not all members post their full name. Other methods of finding an individual include entering their nickname into the search feature or entering keywords related to their favorite hobbies, books, movies or entertainers. This method may require a great deal of research and may be quite time consuming but it can help you find your lost friend if they have a website on MySpace.

Making Business Connections

MySpace can also be used to make business connections. The search feature can be used to find others who share your business interests, dreams and goals. Once you find these individuals you can engage them in conversation by sending an email or instant message or by leaving a comment on their website. These connections may lead to potential business relationships but they may also simply be networking opportunities which allow those interested in certain business aspects to converse with others who share this interest.

Meeting Romantic Partners

Finally, a large portion of those who are using MySpace are hoping to make a romantic connection. MySpace is an online community which enables users to post photos and information about themselves for other members of the community to view. This effectively makes MySpace very similar to a dating service. There is also a space for users to enter information regarding whether or not they are single or looking for a romantic interest. Those who are looking for romance can spend time searching for others who they find physically attractive, share their interests and are also seeking romantic companionship. These MySpace members can contact each other through emails, instant messages or through comments left for each other on the websites. A courting relationship online can progress to an offline relationship or can remain online depending on the wants and intentions of the partners.

- Dandaz98@aol.com

Myspace background selection is one of the most important decisions in the creation of a Myspace profile. Myspace is a social networking website, which offers free access to its users. Myspace acts as a strong platform for interactions and it avails all possible means of web communication such as public and private chat rooms, forums, blogs, Myspace messenger and email id, to satisfy its users. However, the most important attraction of Myspace is the profile, a web space, where you can add up your personal information, interest and everything you prefer, except any abusive or ill-mannered comments. Myspace backgrounds imply the background of the profile, and usually, they match to the context of the profile.

Background is the most visible layer of a webpage, on which, the rest of the items such as tables and text are displayed. Often, background is not a serious matter of consideration in many websites. However, in Myspace, background is given an important position since it helps to fulfill the basic intention of the profile, to catch the attention of others. You have to make your profile attractive, as much as you can, in such a competitive situation, to gain the appreciation of the viewers. According to the saying ‘first impression is the best impression’, and for a web lover, you essentially have to impress them with an artistic blend of your profile and background certainly adds to it.

Myspace background is part of the profile layout. As a layout can be created on your own, with the aid of tutorials, backgrounds can also be done, according to your preferences. In the background selection, background color, images in the background, position of other contents, its movement and the appearance, whether tiled horizontally, vertically or fully, are the major factors of consideration. In addition, borders of the page and table alignments are also important in background creation. However, these factors alone cannot make a background perfect, and its right blend with other factors is essential since totality is the beauty of a profile.

Usually, Myspace backgrounds are customized by the individual selection of the each criterion since a Myspace background looks like a mosaic. In standard patterns, background is seen only in the positions, where tables or text are absent. But the modern patterns follow the opposite strategy to make the tables transparent, and background will be clearly visible through it.

Images are also preferred in background rather than a plain background, and in such instances, the URL of the image has to be added. For the display of the images, its positioning also has to be specified such as top left, top center, top right center left, center center, center right, bottom left, bottom center, bottom right or in X and Y intercept percentages. Image can be also positioned as tiled vertically or horizontally. The repetition pattern of the images can be also assigned. You can then assign the border of the page and table attributes. If you are particular, go for some additional experiments with some the extra stuff. When you finish the selection, you have to insert the correct code of the specifications. If it is correct, you can then enjoy a beautiful background.

Myspace background can be also applied directly from any of the many availaable background generators, if you have no time to spare for individual selection.

- Bronia Campbell

Many users of MySpace tout the potential for advertising to be one of the most useful features of this online community. However, there are quite a few pitfalls to advertising on MySpace. Most importantly those who advertise on MySpace run the risk of finding themselves in violation of MySpace’s terms of service and facing the consequences of these infractions. In addition advertising on MySpace can appear very unprofessional to potential customers. Finally, those who advertise on MySpace may become guilty of spamming. This article will take a look at these three advertising pitfalls and provide advice for avoiding these potential problems.

Violating the Terms of Service on MySpace

One of the most serious potential problems with advertising on MySpace is violating the terms of service outlined by the administrators of MySpace. This is significant because members who are found to be in violation of these terms of service can have their websites deleted and may be banned from the community. The terms of service should be reviewed carefully to determine which types of activities, in relation to advertising, are permitted and which activities are prohibited. Special attention should be paid to the section of the terms of services which specifies member websites are not to be commercial in nature. It might be necessary to contact MySpace directly for ask for clarification of this section and additional information on what constitutes a commercial website.

Appearing Unprofessional

Another potential pitfall to advertising on MySpace is appearing unprofessional. MySpace websites can be created very quickly and easily through available templates. This may result in some members becoming overly anxious to start advertising immediately. When this happens the members may be sloppy in their design and may create a website with many errors which does not present a professional appearance.

Additionally, MySpace is a rather relaxed community where members often use slang or abbreviations haphazard. This practice can also create an unprofessional appearance which may alienate some potential clients. Also, MySpace members must consider the comments left for them by other members of the community. The individual who maintains the website should understand the comments left for them are considered by others to be a reflection of them. Therefore those who do not think highly of the comments left on your website are not likely to think highly of you or your business either. For this reason care should be taken to maintain a lee of control over the comments left for you. This can be done either by not allowing comments at all or by only allowing comments that receive your approval to appear on your website.

Engaging in Spamming techniques

One of the most dangerous pitfalls those who advertise on MySpace might encounter is spamming. Before advertising care should be taken to review MySpace’s policy on spam to ensure the advertising techniques you are using are not considered to be spam by MySpace. This is important because those who are found guilty of spamming may have their account and website deleted. They may even be banned from creating a new account in the future.

Also, potential customers are not likely to think highly of a business that they view as engaging in spamming techniques. These customers are likely to purchase products and services from other providers who they believe run a more honest marketing campaign. Spamming can therefore be a very costly mistake for business owners.

- David Riewe

MySpace is an exciting online community where members can make new friends, reconnect with old friends, network or even find potential romantic partners. While there are some MySpace members who join the community simply for the ability to stay in touch with their old friends and are not looking to make new friends. These members may keep their websites private to not allow other users to view their personal information and may not spend a great deal of time visiting public websites of other members. However, most MySpace members are interested in making a great deal of friends online and are always looking to generate more traffic to their website.

Create an Interesting MySpace Website

One of the simplest ways MySpace members can generate increased traffic to their website is to create a website which is both aesthetically appealing and interesting to others. The aesthetic appeal of a website can greatly influence the amount of repeat traffic a MySpace website receives. For example members who use garish colors and fonts which are too small or otherwise difficult to read may not receive repeat traffic even if the content of their website is very interesting and engaging. This is because other members may lose interest in the website quickly.

The other part of an excellent website design is interesting and intriguing content. A website which is aesthetically appealing may entice visitors to peruse the content but if it is simply not interesting and engaging the visitors are not likely to spend much time on the website and are also not likely to return. However, MySpace members who fill their website with exciting content are likely to keep visitors interested. When visitors are interested in the content they are likely to return and also to encourage others to visit the website as well.

Visit Members’ Websites

Another way to generate increased traffic to your MySpace website is by visiting the websites of other members. You can use the search feature to find other members who share your interests. By visiting their websites you will get a better idea of whether or not you are interested in being friends with these members. When you encounter other members you might be interested in meeting you can sent them an email or instant message commenting on their website and asking to be added to their network of friends. You can also suggest they visit your website as well. Those who make an effort to meet other members are likely to increase their own web site traffic.

Invite Friends to Your MySpace Website

Finally, MySpace members can generate additional traffic to their website by inviting others to visit them. They can speak directly to friends and family members and encourage them to view their website. Also, those who participate in other online communities such as message boards may include a link to their MySpace website in their signature so those who want to learn more about them can visit their MySpace profile.

MySpace also has an invite feature which enables members to send messages to others to encourage them to start a MySpace account. Members who have friends or family members who do not belong to the MySpace community can send them one of these invitations to encourage them to participate. The invitation can include a link to the members MySpace website to give the others an idea of what MySpace really is.

- David Riewe

If you visit MySpace and do some browsing then the question will almost answer itself. Basically, you need to create a profile and then invite others to be your friends. This can be a because after you have invited 40 you will be required to enter in a CAPTCHA to keep on going. There are several marketing guides out there that tell you of ways to accelerate this.

The reason you want to enlarge your network of friends is because then you will be able to post bulletins that all the people in your network will see. Besides bulletins you can send private messages or just put comments up on your main page. A good profile page is also very important because this is like the About me page on Ebay. You can tell a little bit about yourself and embed links to other sites or even post links to places where you are an affiliate of. MySpace with 300 million users can be a great place to focus your marketing to certain niche groups.

You can have videos on your MySpace page and also post these videos to places like YouTube, Google Video and Yahoo video. My son has a large network on one of his accounts and he is an affiliate for one program where he gets paid every time a person goes to the site from one of his pages. In a test he made $30 in only ten minutes time. Just think what you could make in an entire day with marketing like this.

There is a site called FriendStorm that helps you to increase your number of friends a lot faster than just using the MySpace tools plus there are several bots out there that are designed to speed up everything for you. A lot of these Bots now are getting much faster than they used to run with programs like BadderAdder. I tried one a few days ago which was like a turbo charged version of BadderAdder called Buddypromoter. Besides just a friend adder it had a lot of other useful features.

I know of a few marketers who use the site MySpace very well. They have large networks of friends and they say they are making good income from MySpace. Another unusual tool on MySpace is called a Whore Train. Back when I grew up a Whore was not a person you would bring home to meet your parents but on MySpace it is a good tool. It allows you to create a network of friends by having other users invite others to add you to their network.

I see a lot of banners for other companies all over the site MySpace. I use Hostgator for all my personal web hosting needs and I now see their banners all over the place now. MySpace also has forums and groups where you are able to more freely interact with other MySpacer’s. Now you would think that on a site like this somebody could create a post on your account that you do not like you can just delete it. If a post is blatant SPAM they even allow you to alert the moderators to this..

My article is only meant to give you a brief on marketing on the site MySpace. I said earlier that there are many publications out there that will completely expand on what I have said here. One site that I know of is MySpaceJobKiller which has a site with the same name. This book will reveal a lot of shortcuts getting you to the point of making more money a lot faster than just doing everything by experimentation.

Basically what it all comes down to is MySpace has so many different groups so if your niche was lets say Rose Gardening you could find several groups pertaining to either roses or even just gardening. You could even market adult products on this site as I have seen several groups that are questionable. Groups like Bad Girls or Naughty Girls. And the same with the other Gender. I have had several escorts approaching me on MySpace including Strippers and a few other services which I will need to learn about first.

If all you want a MySpace profile for is marketing then I have found that the profiles of good looking young ladies with pictures have a lot of friends. If you can find a bot that will create profiles like this for you then you’ve got it made. I’ve heard that some bots even have whats called a profile grabber that will find some pretty good background images for your MySpace profile. MySpace is not just a site to network and make friends.

- Jeffrey A Solochek, I

Popular social networking website MySpace.com has taken their operation to a new level in the last year. Pushed hard by competition from competing websites which attempt to piggyback off of their idea, MySpace has constantly been looking for different ways to get ahead and keep their largely youthful member base. Though there have been quite a few different things added to MySpace over the last few months, one of the most popular has been the new MySpace backgrounds which can be customized and uploaded easily. MySpace is now becoming much more than just a place to keep up with friends. Now, it is a place to make a statement about who you are and what you love.

With that in mind, what exactly does your MySpace profile say about you? Obviously, the information held there is going to be the primary way that people get to know you. How else might you communicate your personality through that profile? MySpace backgrounds offer an easy and creative way to differentiate your profile from all of the other profiles on the website. Any fool can make a profile with a generic background. It takes someone with real personality to get a custom MySpace background. If you are planning on installing one of these MySpace backgrounds, it’s important to consider the message that you are sending.

When someone visits your MySpace profile page, the first thing they will hear is your music. Along those same lines, the first thing they will see is that fancy background. This means that you will have an opportunity to make a first impression that a person isn’t soon to forget. How do you do this and what things should you keep in mind before choosing a profile? Well, in order to make a good impression, you should choose something that’s fun, easy on the eyes, and descriptive of your lifestyle. You have to keep your senses in order, though. A crazy MySpace background will take away from the other content on the page.

If you happen to like a sports team, then don’t be afraid to show your stuff. Your MySpace background should represent you in a way that you are proud of. It should let people know what sorts of things that you are really into. When deciding on a different layout, you should try to pick something that is likely to be important to you for a long period of time. Though it’s not all that difficult to change your MySpace background, it’s not something that you’ll want to make a habit of. By choosing something that has substantial meaning to your life, chances are that you will enjoy the background much more.

- Shant

Social networking website MySpace has exploded in popularity over the last couple of years. For years and years, people have gotten by with old forms of networking and communication. The internet has made everything more convenient, though. That convenience has extended all the way into networking, as friends are able to keep up with each other and new friends are out there to be made. MySpace also allows a place for people to have a personal space on the internet. In a way, your page is a statement about your likes and your personality. How does one go about making their MySpace page the best one it can be? Specialized backgrounds are certainly a good way to do that.

That’s where different custom background websites come into play. Luckily for those avid MySpace users, there are plenty of places that will help create a custom MySpace background and plenty that have already made MySpace background for use on the popular site. More people look at MySpace each day than almost any other website on the entire internet, so it is important that your MySpace profile be all that it can be. The background of your profile is the first thing that most people are going to notice. Whether friend or foe, they’ll form their opinion of your page based upon the background layout.

If you are one of the boring types, then you might enjoy the basic backgrounds that MySpace gives out with its profiles. They offer a few different designs that might fit your needs and suit your fancy. If you find one of those that fits your profile, then it is easy to implement them on your profile. The advantages to these types of profiles are that they are quite easy to implement and they don’t dominate the page. Chances are that if you have been looking around MySpace for any extended amount of time, then you will want something a little more fun and descriptive.

The fact of the matter is that the internet is completely full of MySpace background websites that offer lots of different options. No matter if you are a sports fan, a music nut, or a lover of animals, you can find a MySpace background to reflect your obsession. Maybe you love Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers? Perhaps you have always loved playing with Barbie? No matter the case, there is a good chance you will find a background representing this. Even if you can’t find one now, you can be sure that one is probably being designed at this moment.

When you pick a personalized MySpace background for your personal profile, you are putting a stamp of personality and creativity on your page for the entire world to see. With so many options out there, why wouldn’t you take advantage of the chance to have a cooler background? Social networking should be fun and it should be a way for people to present themselves to others. By going boring with your background, you aren’t taking full advantage of that opportunity.

- Shant
